Pancake Day 2019
Our little town is often to referred to as the real life Stars Hallow. There are specific days each year that leave us feeling like we really are living on a movie set. Our annual Pancake Day is one of those days. This beloved tradition dates back more than 60 years, and each year, on the first Saturday in December, everyone you've ever known your entire life gathers at the YWCO downtown and gets in line together to indulge in all you can eat, hot-off-the-griddle pancakes and sausage. Pancake Day also coincides with the anniversary of our shop, making the day even more special. This year marks 3 years since the re-opening of the historic Laurel Mercantile and we hope that you have plans to come celebrate with us here in Laurel!
The morning begins at 6 a.m. and folks are dedicated to get there as the soon as doors open, even though, after all of these years, we've never known them selling out of pancakes. Rain or shine, you can count on a line to get into the Y, but it moves quickly and is so worth it..
Pancake Day is followed by our downtown Christmas Parade. The parade begins at 10am and folks line every inch of our downtown streets to watch as Mississippi's longest parade passes by.. if you weren't one of those early risers that made it to the YWCO before the parade, don't fret because the gracious volunteers of our Kiwanis Club will still be serving up fresh pancakes until 1pm. This is how Christmas begins in our hometown and it's truly magical.
The 2019 Pancake Day is on December 7 and begins at 6am. Tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis Club of Laurel member for $6 or at the door for $7.
