#529 Shellin.
Farmer Phil’s formerly parched garden turned out to be really productive after these afternoon showers we’ve been having. Tonight, mama, daddy, mammaw and I shelled about 10 billion peas. Well I only really shelled about 100 of them, but the point is that I helped and have sore little thumbs to prove it. It was the best when I finally found my sweet spot and got in a quick-shelling groove—to do that you just have to snap one end off and pull the seam in the process. It makes for much faster shelling. You know, if you ever find yourself with a bushel of peas that need shelling.
It’s so Mississippi.
