#2,005 Smooth As Glass.
The more Ben works with wood, the more tricks and steps he introduces into his process and I’m so fascinated watching all the new things he’s learning and doing and making. After joining pieces of antique heart pine using glue and clamps and fancy joint techniques and after filling the holes and gouges from a century of wear, today he planed and sanded and re-sanded it until it felt like glass. I couldn’t stop running my hand over it, brushing away the dust that wasn’t there. I marveled over the tightness of the grain, something very hard to come by these days.
