#1,097 A Surprise in the Mail.
This afternoon I was so excited to find a package from my friend, Katy, a Lucky Luxe bride who’s become a daily email/text message penpal. We’ve never met, but it doesn’t seem that way. We stay in touch all the time about movies and books, her constantly awkward work encounters. She texted the other night asking if we’ve read Life of Pi. I’m actually the only person left on earth who has not read it, even though I’ve heard wonderful things.
Inside the box was the book along with a hilarious letter from both she and Joe written across several varieties of cat stationery and a jar of homemade strawberry jam.
Lately my work has been stressing me a bit, but finding friends like this make you forget about that stuff. I am so blessed to make a living simply by becoming friends with good people like Katy and making them pretty wedding invitations. It sounds like a cake walk when I see it written down.
We also made the little drive to Newton for dinner with Ben’s parents and Jesse. He’s home for Christmas break and she invited us over for roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, green beans and creamed corn. It was good to see them, to teach Ben’s daddy how to use their new Canon Rebel SLR, to eat a good meal that I didn’t have to cook or buy. I’m so glad they’re living closer than ever.
