#696 Landrum’s Christmas.

When I was a little girl, mama and I would ALWAYS go to Landrum’s Country Village Christmas open house and I looked forward to it so much every single year. It’s a privately owned little village with walking paths and grist mills, general stores that sell rock candy and other things children will beg their mamas for, there are little vendors set up selling funnel cakes, kettle corn, and spicy pork sausage links. There’s the main store there that sells home furnishings and handmade furniture. Mama and I would listen to Aaron Neville’s Soulful Christmas album in the car on the way and buy Aspen Mulling Spices there and that delicious hot cider is the taste of my childhood Christmases. Sometimes she would make a hot kettle of it and we would get our mugs and drink it in the hot tub they had back in the day while the frost was settling all around us. I swear I felt like I was 20 years old when she let me do that.

So tonight, Ben and I met Jim, Mallorie, their friend Daniel and his friends Katie and Erin who are from Boston and Memphis. I was glad they brought them there to give them a taste of Christmas in Mississippi regardless of the 70 degree temp and soggy weather.

Mama, let’s go together next year. Okay?
