#2,266 Go Outside.

It was a spectacularly gorgeous day so as soon as we left church we went to Lowe’s, bought some flowers for my front porch pots, then headed straight home so I could be outside as long as I could. It was one of those days where it felt like God had turned on the air conditioner. It felt so comfortable, just perfect for shorts and long sleeve t-shirt. Mama dropped by while I was potting the flowers and told me my grandmother used to love to plant the same kind I had gotten. I completely forgot to take a better photo of them all finished!

I lost one of my favorite pots to a winter freeze that cracked the side. I got 2 of them in St. Augustine a couple years ago— so colorful with hand painted Mexican floral motifs. I guess that means we’ll just have to go back and get another one to replace it.

After I washed the potting soil from under my nails, Ben was pulling into the driveway after an afternoon spent working on a new project in the woodshop and we took a walk around the neighborhood. We found Mallorie and Lucy swinging on the playground at Gardiner Park, where the sun was sinking behind houses that were built before the Titanic sailed. I do love living in an old town and the little luxuries it provides, like a walk in the park on the verge of springtime.

P.S.

I have not yet watched the Downton Abbey finale. I’m very sleepy and I’m just not ready. So I’m saving it for a time when I can absorb it.

I’m really gonna miss those Granthams.
