#1,871 Makeover Day 4 + Clark’s Birthday.

I spent the day cleaning up the worst of the plaster dust at Lucky Luxe while Ben made big strides with the new wainscoting, and this afternoon the first-ever downtown Laurel Mardi Gras parade rolled below our windows. I was amazed by the turnout. SO MANY PEOPLE came to see it.

Can I just say how much I love a man who somehow inherently “knows” things (like how to run electrical wiring to new wall sconces) and how to build and do things with his hands? He didn’t go to school for it or anything, he has a history degree… But he just KNOWS stuff. I wish y’all could all know him. You’d love him, too.

And then I got to work making spaghetti and meatballs for my brother’s early birthday celebration at our house tonight.

Growing up, Mammaw always made her spaghetti and meatballs for my, Jim’s and Clark’s birthdays. It’s been so many years since she made them, but Clark never got over that particular Italian infatuation. It so happens that it’s one of the only meals I feel like I make really well, and I really really enjoy making, so… Dinner at our house! And John Walker came!

He won’t let you hold him for long, but it’s the sweetest thing when you get to for a second.
